Motion Designer

Turn our shows' visual identities into animation that editors can use in episodes and clips. You will work with existing brand direction to make titles, on-screen information, and transitions feel like part of the same show.

Apply for this role

What you will do

  • Turn the script or graphics brief into style frames and a simple storyboard before producing the animation.
  • Animate the agreed pieces: show openings, speaker names, section titles, transitions, and calls to action.
  • Explain information through animated maps, timelines, diagrams, or data graphics, checking names and figures against the supplied sources.
  • Adapt the graphics to horizontal and vertical video, leaving room for subtitles and keeping text readable on a phone.
  • Deliver tested exports and editable templates with instructions, fonts, asset licenses, and any plugin requirements.

What we are looking for

  • A reel showing strong typography, composition, and animation timing, not only effects.
  • Experience with After Effects or an equivalent tool and preparing templates for other editors.
  • Ability to follow a visual identity and make animation serve the content. Sound-design or explainer experience is a plus.

Who you will work with

Agree on the animation brief with the founder and the designer responsible for the show's identity. Work with the editor on timing, formats, and template controls so the graphics can be used in the actual edit.

An example assignment

For a documentary episode, animate a timeline and a map that explain the sequence of events. Also prepare a reusable speaker-name graphic, with versions that work in the main episode and vertical clips.

With your application

  • Two motion projects or a reel plus a reusable template example. Explain your contribution.
  • Tools, required plugins, availability, and rates for an asset package.

The brand direction and asset list are agreed before production. This is separate from creating the show's identity or editing full episodes.
